The Random Works of a Mad Mind

After watching and nearly obsessing over the new movie, Wanted, I went on a frantic search to find it's soundtrack. This search led me here, to an interview with Jeremy Zuckerman and Benjamin Wynn, two of the guys responsible for the the lovely score in our favorite show.
The interview even includes quite a few sound previews from the score. The interview was posted on the site in early April, so if anyone has already posted this, feel free to delete.

Okay.
I've sort of given up on my old story.
But I've began what might become a story.
Or just a drabble.
I'm not sure.
But here's what I have so far.
Critique, comment, whatever you want.



She stared out the window as the rain played a pattern on the panes; it changed every so often, quickening and subsiding continually, before reinventing itself altogether. The pitter-patter had lulled the young girl into a peaceful state. She absentmindedly toyed with the corner of her ancient quilt as she sat, thinking about everything and nothing, waiting all the while. The long streaks of blues and greens and purples down her window created scenes of far-off places; worlds no one knew of, filled with people and animals unique to her own imagination. The hours had passed by slowly, seeming like days, weeks, months, and yet they also seemed to fly by at an unthinkable pace.
While her thoughts shifted and changed and strayed to times and places long gone, and soon to come, always on her mind was the rain. Its gentle cleansing of the world was fascinating. Enough so that she could spend an eternity wondering at its depths, reasons, and precious melodies. It's infinite complexity and simplicity brought about an almost philisophical mindset for the young girl who reveled in it. She though about how it could its soothing waters could quickly change to raging floods, and then back to the peaceful trickles that now dotted and smudged her view of the outside world.
Even in her trancelike state, she sensed the tempo of the droplets begin to slow. The girl named Raya as a tribute to the sun, dreaded its return, and silently prayed for her beloved symphony to stay with her. She sighed as her namesake peered through the clouds, and fell back against the soft blankets on her bed. With only silence around her, Raya kicked her feet against the side of her bed, making the only noise she could to drive away the deafening silence that rang through her room. The muffled thumping her feet created was not enough to drive away the ringing that the absence of noise created, Raya sat up and flung open her window, hoping to catch the sweet harmony of birds awakening after the cool showers.
When she heard the stillness of her room echoed in the garden outside her window, Raya closed it once more. Heaving another sigh of discontentment, the girl paced her room, now stuck with only her thoughts and no distractions.

Okay. I've put a hold on writing my story for now. Why? Three reasons. One: writers block. Two: No assistance [ADRIENNE! xD]. Three: No character names. To solve, hopefully, all of these problems, I've decided to write an intro to the young king. The coal-black haired boy? Yeah, him. After the intro answer the poll to which name fits him best. If you have another name, comment me with the name. Thank you! Here it is:



He had been born with a great destiny upon him. He was the first child of a King and Queen, and therefore was to be King. He knew this from a very young age, and had accepted this fact long ago. At fourteen he no longer worried about the weight of his country, which would one day fall upon his shoulders. Instead of worrying about an event sure to be many years in the future ( Decades, even; his father was a very healthy man) he dedicated his time to his studies and his sisters.
At age twelve he had been given his first sword, and he practiced with it for hours on end, hoping to become as adept as his father was. His aspiration was indeed plausible; he was learning from the same master, who had taught the King, Master Waz [pronounced Wah-zz]. He also was fervent in his research of his country [Unnamed] and its history. He took pride in his memorization of the many great leaders of his nation and the part they took in its success. Even more so, the prince, who despised being called so, loved nature. He would ride out into the forests surrounding the castle with his science professor, Master Apo [pronounced Ah-poe]and revel in the beauty and science of its simplicity for nearly as long as he practiced his swordsmanship, if not longer.
He absolutely adored his sisters as well. The closest in his age was [Unnamed]. Two years younger than he, she was his best friend, and partook in his love of nature. She also studied swordsmanship, and would periodically spar with him, giving him much-needed competition, although her passion was archery. His closeness with his sister was reflected in their striking visual similarities. Although he stood several inches taller than her, as was to be expected, their body types were almost identical. Both were tall and thin, and had the same deep black hair, albeit hers had long curls, and hung near her waist, and his was straight and hung in shaggy bunches around his shoulders. The most stunning feature the two shared however, was their eyes. Both shared the same glistening [blue or green, can't remember.. ] pools of emotion, which they inherit from their mother, along with the freckles that dotted their faces.
His youngest sister, [Unnamed] too, held a special place in his heart. The six-year-old was sweet and innocent in all ways, and he adored her kind and gentle ways. Her small frame portrayed her as fragile, as did her attitude. She preferred light pinks and blues to darker reds, and singing and dancing to riding and hunting. Her blue eyes were so light they were almost gray, and they penetrated straight to his soul. Like him, she adored nature, animals in particular, and would occasionally join him on his ventures into the woods.




Wow that was long. That might end up being a first chapter, if I add and revise a few things. Ok. Now to the poll. Ready.. Set.. Vote!

I'm writing a story. Yup. A new one. I have the intro/prologue thingy done. It's kind od the end of the story, but it makes a good intro. I want help with this [ADRIENNE] so I can publish it, eventually. I basically came up with this story on the way to Wal-Mart on Saturday. The sun reflecting on the snow inspired this beginning. So yeah. On your mark! Get set! Read!
As the sun peeked from behind it's cloak of white clouds, it met an interesting sight. At the top of a grassy hill stood a small party of well-dressed people. Several at the bottom sheilded their eyes from the glare of the sun, but the stoic bunch at the top remained steady in their formal stance. The sun stretched it's rays out and they reached the target. A brilliant shine gleamed off a boy's coal-black hair at the same instant it hit the stunning Harlon Crown.
The boy was on one knee before a gray, whizzened Elder. The Elder, decked out in ceremonial attire, held the heavily jewel-studded crown inches above the boy's head. A smile played across his face when the sun stroke the moment enchantingly, but the smile vanished just as soon; this was a serious occasion, not one for frivolous laughter. He lightly placed the magnificent crown upon the kneeling boy's head, and he closed his eyes for but a moment. In that moment he breathed deeply and swallowed the emotions brimming their way to the surface. He rose to a standing position, careful not to upset the crown set upon him. Before turning to face his people the boy's eyes strayed to the side and met with another pair.
As he looked into a set of eyes identical to his he had to fight with his only body to remain standing. The urge to fall to his knees and hug his sister was almost unbearable. But she nodded slightly to her floundering brother, giving him the strength he needed. In that breif moment they had communicated a lifetime of emotions, feelings, and concerns. But her firm and caring gaze pushed him onwards. He spun slowly and gracefully to face the small crowd on the hill. All before him fell to there knees in reverence to him, even his sisters to his left and right. He was King and he now held the destinies of all before him. Or so he thought..

There you have it. This story will be told from the point of view from the sister whose eyes match his. Yup. I haven't picked names yet, and the name 'Harlon' is temporary as well. The story starts at her birth and basically summarizes her life. Oh, and her parents are King and Queen. Yeah. Anyways, when she's twelve, her mother dies [at sunset] giving birth to a son, who also dies. Actually, that may change too.. The King [their father] is at war, and dies during a battle. At sunset. Ok. So the brother becomes King. At 14. And the sister is 12. And the other sister is 6 or 8. I can't remember. I had it all planned out, but it's kinda escaped me.

So help me out. I need plot ideas, name ideas, anything. And Miss Adrienne, that Teen Author thing is still an idea for us. But I need your help if we're doing that. Maybe we could write alternating chapters or something. Maybe I could do one point of view, and you another. Not sure. COMMENT ME!!!

It is Sunday, and tomorrow is Monday. I absolutely despise Mondays. Why? Because, when Monday's come weekends go away. Luckily I only have to endure ONE more Monday until February vacation. Four weeks from tomorrow is my birthday. I have no idea what I want. Actually I do.. xD. But that'll never happen. This was ashort first post, but I don't have much else to say. So yeah..

Ok. This is my very post ever, and sadly has no icons. =[. Instead I came bearing a request. I am VERY new to icon making [only made 1] and LJ communities and how they work. I would LOVE it if someone [ or everyone?] could give me some much needed adivce on these matters. I use Corel Painter, which I am also VERY new at, but I'm willing to learn, and anyone is will to teach me. I've been lurking in various Avatar communities and wanted to join and make beautiful icons like I've seen here, but haven't had the means to do i t until now. I look forward to posting icons for everyone to join very soon. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!
